Editor's Note
First allow me to say that, because of some unfortunate, sudden,
and tragic events, I lost the first twenty or so entries to the haiku
contest, and they were some very good ones as I recall. If only I
hadn’t had a massive heart attack and open-heat surgery that
followed soon thereafter, perhaps the outcome would be
different, perhaps I would have not lost control of my website
and accompanying e-mail account that held the entries. But I did.
So, with that said, I received forty-eight haiku entries.
And these are the results:
1st place Haiku by Ruth Naylor
winter ivy clings
to the farm's old stone turret —
a new widow grieves
